**T Coronae Borealis**, commonly known by its abbreviation **T CrB**, proper name the **Blaze Star**, is a [[recurrent-nova]] in the constellation [[corona-borealis]].'1

## Structure

The [[binary-star]] is composed of a [[red-giant]] and a [[white-dwarf]]. 

## Novae

T Coronae Borealis is a [[recurrent-nova]] which flares up every 80 or so years. When that happens, its [[apparent-magnitude]] shoots up from 10.8 to 2,'3 putting it among the brightest stars in the night sky.

Previous outbursts were recorded in [[1217]], [[1787]] (+ 7 × 81.43 years), [[1866]] (+ 79 years), and [[1946]] (+ 80 years).'2 Using the interval of 80 years, the next event is expected to happen sometime around [[2026]]. However, no outburst has been observed yet.
