Polus

The Soviet space program (Космическая программа СССР) was the space program of the Soviet Union. It existed from 1951 to 1991, competing with NASA during the Space Race. Notable accomplishments include Sputnik 1, vostok-1, the space stations salyut-1 and Mir, and the Luna, Venera, and Mars exploration programs. After the Soviet Union's dissolution in 1991, it was primarily succeeded by Roscosmos, as well as the state-space-agency-of-ukraine.
